1 Kings 18:1 " And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go shew thyself unto Ahab;  and I will send rain upon the earth."

Strong in Faith

1Kings 18:41-45 "And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.  So Ahab went up to eat and to drink.  And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees.  And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea.  And he went up, and looked, and said, there is nothing.  And he said, Go again seven times.  And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain."

What a wonderful revelation of scripture this is for us today. It teaches us to hold fast to the Word of the Lord and to believe Him for the things that He hath revealed to us, that He will surely bring them to pass. Just as Elijah heard Gods voice telling him that He will send rain upon the earth, and Elijah believed it by faith, and even declared and revealed it to King Ahab, so must we believe what the Lord is telling us by faith, and declare it in our lives as we wait upon the Lord to bring it to pass. Until we can see an outward manifestation of the things that the Spirit hath spoken unto us.

Remember in the Bible when Gabriel the angel was sent unto Mary to reveal the Word of the Lord unto her?  And the angel said unto her, "Fear not, Mary:  for thou hast found favor with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS." Later when Mary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth, she spoke unto Mary these words, "Blessed is she that believed; for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord."

What things hath the "Word of the Lord" spoken unto you?  Let us get up to the mountains and begin to pray until we see them come to pass. Rejoice my friend, for blessed are you who believe. Hold fast to His promises for they shall surely come to pass. It may be "after many days", but it will happen just like He said it would.

Elijah prayed earnestly for rain, in the midst of a long drought. But each time His servant came back saying, there was no visible sign of rain. How often have we let discouragements come in where our faith once stood because we see no visible sign of what the Lord has spoken to us? But on the seventh time, his servant returned saying that their arose a little cloud out of the sea. What began as a little cloud turned the heavens black with clouds and wind, and a great abundance of rain.

So let us not grow weary or discouraged when we do not see any results of what was spoken to us by the Lord. But let us with unwavering faith trust Him to bring it to pass. As Elijah, who bowed his head into his knees and began to wait and pray, let us also wait and pray until we see the very thing manifested which was spoken to us by the Lord.

Isaiah 55:11 "So shall my Word be that goeth  forth out of my mouth; it shall  not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

We serve the same God that Elijah served. And He is still the same today as He was many years ago. Think of all the promises He has made and kept, and the power He has demonstrated in the Bible days. Noah and the great flood, Moses in Egypt, Daniel in the Lions Den, the Three Hebrew Children cast into the fiery furnace. Their testimonies of faith were recorded and written down for our learning today. That we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Let us remember Abraham and Sarah, who although were passed the age of child bearing, yet God called him the father of many nations. Abraham was about 100 years old, but he staggered not at the promises of God through unbelief. He was strong in faith, fully persuaded that what He had promised, He was able also to perform.

What He was able to do then, He is certainly able to do today! So let us also be strong in the faith, fully persuaded that what He has promised us, He will also perform. Like those men and women of old, we too will see the great signs and wonders of a Miraculous God in our lives.
