It’s Our Birthday!

Let us Celebrate!

The United States of America did not come into existence by mere accident.  It didn’t just evolve by chance.  No, it was planned long before its existence by a sovereign God who knew exactly what role He intended for this “nation under God” to play in the history of mankind.  To dismiss the hand of Almighty God from the history and future of America is pure futility and folly.  Our “birth” came about because it was incubated in the mind of God and birthed in “due time” to fulfill His will.

What a privilege to be born (or migrated to) this marvelous place and be a participant in the building of God’s will on earth.  What a loss to fail to recognize that we are in the history of the United States of America because God placed us here “for such a time as this.”  Those who are attempting to disconnect us with our Creator, who knows our end from our beginning, are missing their opportunity to be part of the eternal mechanism that will usher in the end of this age.  Their loss will be irreparable when Jesus comes back for those who “look for His appearing.”  This event will encompass the entire world, but we in America have a role assigned to us.  Let us find out place and fulfill our divine destiny.

It is an impossibility to erase God or His Word from this universe!  It’s been tried many times throughout the ages, and every effort has failed; any future efforts will have the same demise.  There are no weapons that can successfully be formed against those who belong to the Lord by way of the new birth.

"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.  this is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD" (Isaiah 54:17).

So, rise up Christian America!  Celebrate your birthday!  Celebrate your heritage!  You were birthed because your God willed it, and His love and mercy are still available to maintain it.  If you have neglected it in the past, God gives “second chances” again and again.  Let this year’s birthday be a new or renewed beginning for all Americans of every ethnic background.  Let us demonstrate to God our loyalty by honoring Him and returning this nation to its roots.  Let us mend all the fractures in the foundation upon which our nation rests that our forefathers laid and intended for us to nurture and protect.

Be aware that there are elements in influential places that have ulterior motives to dismantle our Constitution and redefine our original documents set forth by our founding fathers and restructure them according to the human mind of godless groups.  God knew what He was doing and, for our welfare, He put our founding documents in the minds of those who framed our Constitution, Bill of Rights and systems of justice and freedom for all the nation’s citizens.  It will be negatively awesome for those who attempt to undermine what God has instituted.

This is a call to arms!  We must arm ourselves with the “Sword of the Spirit” and don the “whole armor of God” lest we fall prey to Satan’s attack whose intention is to destroy this country and its morals and assign them to a spiritual ash heap by modern day atheism and godlessness influenced by emissaries from hell itself.  If the lack of moral and spiritual restraint continues the current downward spiral, the judgment of God will have to take its course.  But it doesn’t have to be!  If spiritual warriors will “come out of the closets” and be revived, then God will honor his Word and we will “hear from heaven.”

Are you ready to “fight the good fight of faith”?  Are you ready to see what God can do when His people which are called by His name humble themselves and pray?

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land"  (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Hear the battle cry—"Onward, Christian Soldiers!"

"Wherefore take unto you the whole amour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand" (Ephesians 6:13).

If we do our part, God will do His!  Just stand in the power of His might!

We only have to look back in history at the “Father of Our Country,” George Washington, to realize that this nation was established on acknowledgment of God and that our first president knew that he needed the wisdom and guidance that could only come from God.  It is truly amazing why some people seem to be afraid to trust in a God that loves them unconditionally, desires their companionship, and has already ordered their footsteps in the right direction; all they have to do is ask and follow.  It defies common sense that one would not want to have this kind of intelligent assistance in making decisions that can determine the direction the nation and their personal life will take.  The end result will always be to their advantage to keep a keen listening ear to the voice of God, through His Word, by personal inspiration and godly spiritual leaders.

Many of the prayers of George Washington, our first president and “father of our country,” have been preserved.  I found this one at CBN’s web site.  It is titled “Sunday Morning Prayer.”  More of President Washington’s prayers can be found at CBN’s web site.

"Almighty God, and most merciful father, who didst command the children of Israel to offer a daily sacrifice to thee, that thereby they might glorify and praise thee for thy protection both night and day, receive, O Lord, my morning sacrifice which I now offer up to thee; I yield thee humble and hearty thanks that thou has preserved me from the danger of the night past, and brought me to the light of the day, and the comforts thereof, a day which is consecrated to thine own service and for thine own honor.  Let my heart, therefore, Gracious God, be so affected with the glory and majesty of it, that I may not do mine own works, but wait on thee, and discharge those weighty duties thou requirest of me, and since thou art a God of pure eyes, and wilt be sanctified in all who draw near unto thee, who doest not regard the sacrifice of fools, nor hear sinners who tread in thy courts, pardon, I beseech thee, my sins, remove them from thy presence, as far as the east is from the west, and accept of me for the merits of thy son Jesus Christ, that when I come into thy temple, and compass thine altar, my prayers may come before thee as incense; and as thou wouldst hear me calling upon thee in my prayers, so give me grace to hear thee calling on me in thy word, that it may be wisdom, righteousness, reconciliation and peace to the saving of the soul in the day of the Lord Jesus.  Grant that I may hear it with  reverence, receive it with meekness, mingle it with faith, and that it may accomplish in me, Gracious God, the good work for which thou has sent it.  Bless my family, kindred, friends and country, be our God & guide this day and for ever for his sake, who lay down in the Grave and arose again for us, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen."

From William J. Johnson, George Washington, The Christian (New York: The Abingdon Press, 1919)

George Washington took his oath of office on April 30, 1789 in New York on the balcony of Federal Hall on Wall Street.  He wrote James Madison:  “As the first of everything, in our situation will serve to establish a precedent, it is devoutly wished on my part, that these precedents may be fixed on true principles.”

To further demonstrate that our founding fathers did not wish to separate God from the affairs of this infant nation, Michael Novak, historian, wrote:

It was from the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, that most Patriots absorbed the beliefs and values that motivated them to rebel against Britain. Through weekly Bible study and Sunday sermons, they adopted and interpreted in a uniquely American manner "the essential outlook of the Hebrews: that the Creator gave humans a special place among all other creatures, and made them free, and endowed them with incomparable responsibility and dignity. This sequence of related concepts - that time had a beginning and is measured for progress (or decline) by God's standards; that everything in the world is intelligible, and to inquire, invent, and discover is an impulse of faith as well as reason; that the Creator endowed us with liberty and inviolable dignity, while the Divine Judge shows concern for the weak and the humble; that life is time of duty and trial—all these are the background that make sense of the Declaration of Independence....Without this metaphysical background, the founding generation of Americans would have had little heart for the War of Independence. ...that their seemingly unlawful rebellion actually fulfilled the will of God.

Thomas Jefferson wrote: “The God Who gave us life gave us liberty at the same time.”

Influential leaders such as Benjamin Franklin, Samuel and John Adams, were raised as Puritans, reading the Geneva bible which had marginal notes throughout what they called the "Old Testament," which preached against kings as tyrants, church hierarchy, or obeying wicked laws.  James Madison stayed an extra year at College of New Jersey (now Princeton University) to study Hebrew and Scriptures under the famous pro-democratic Presbyterian theologian, President Witherspoon, one of the most educated men in America, was the most influential academic in American history, according to Michael Novak.  His sermons linking the American Revolution to the teachings of the Hebrew Bible influenced an entire generation.  At Princeton, he taught twelve members of the Continental Congress, five delegates to the Constitutional Convention, and scores of officers in the Continental Army.

Benjamin Franklin became an enthusiastic supporter of one of America's great evangelical ministers, George Whitefield, "the most popular of the Great Awakening's roving preachers."  Franklin printed Whitefield's sermons on the front page of his Gazette.  He arranged to publish all of Whitefield's sermons and journals.

To contend that our founding fathers meant for the “State” to be apart and free from religion is to stick one’s head in the sand, causing blindness and deafness to cloud one's judgment.  The preservation of this great country lies with those who “know” (personally and intimately) God, the designer and navigator of their world/universe; Jesus, their Creator and Savior; and the Holy Spirit, their Guide and God’s Agent in the world to carry out His plans, until such time as God calls for all mankind to give account of the stewardship of their plot of earth and duties assigned to them.

Until then, may we seek and find our place in the Divine scheme of things and faithfully carry out our duties responsibly to keep our great country the "one nation under God" as He intended.  If we do that, we can assume for ourselves the same promises attached to faithfulness that the early Israelites received:

We will blessed!

“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:  And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD they God” (Deuteronomy 28:1, 2).

Have a Happy and Blessed Birthday, American!
