(Shackles: Something that confines the arms or legs)

(Bondage: Slavery, servitude)

"Then being made free from sin, you became the slaves of righteousness" (Romans 6:18).

Recently, I broke my foot and had to wear a heavy brace.
It was awful and my life and activities changed overnight.
I was hindered by the brace in my everyday life. I had
to take it into consideration even when making the smallest plans. The bondage of the brace was with me day and
night, and I didn’t enjoy my life as much because of the
pain and restrictions.

What a feeling of freedom and joy when I could finally
leave the brace behind, but my doctor told me that I would have to be very careful; because of the weakness in the
healing bone. He advised me to watch every step I took.

I was thinking that is the way we are when we leave the shackles and bondages of sin behind and start a new
walk with Jesus as our Master. Although the blood of
Jesus has covered our sins when we believe and trust Him,
we still need to be careful of each step we take; because
the devil is the enemy of our soul and looks for ways
to trap us and send us back into bondage.

"Therefore let us come boldly to the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in
time of need" (Hebrews 4:16).

All of have times that we are weak and need more strength from God. He wants us to ask Him for help in our times
of weakness. Just as I had to be careful of the 'weak bone,
' we have to be careful and not fall back but go forward.
Our Heavenly father loves us, and He will
help us if we only ask and obey.

"And Samuel said, ‘Does Jehovah delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold,
to obey is better than sacrifice! To listen is better than
the fat of rams!"
(1 Samuel 15:22).

"For I, Jehovah your God, will hold your right hand,
saying to you,
‘Do not fear; I will help you’ " (Isaiah 41:13).

Lord, thank you for loving and delivering us. Help us to
 be careful of our steps, especially when we are weak;
because we surely
don’t want to go back onto bondage!
